Sablock Bio Pic

Peter Sablock received his PhD in geology from the College of Mines, University of Idaho after studying stratigraphy, sedimentology, and geophysics. He is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Geological Sciences at Salem State College, Salem, Massachusetts. Almost a decade ago, Peter decided to merge his lifelong interest in historical archaeology with his research in environmental geophysics and apply shallow subsurface geophysics techniques to archaeology. His current research focuses on geophysical remote sensing of shallow targets with a particular interest in the colonial period. Peter and his students analyze sites using a full complement of surveying and geophysical equipment - seismic, radar, electromagnetic, geomagnetic, and electrical. Peter has worked on the Popham and Chadbourne archaeological sites and on various projects for the Old York Historical Society in Maine, as well as, projects for the National Park Service in Maine and Massachusetts.
